I recently came across this article from the Daily Mail here, written by Liz Jones and Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman.
Although I rarely buy from Primark and cheap shops - I'm not a snob I just prefer to save my money and blow it all on an amazing piece that I'll have forever...because I think cheap clothes are a false economy. Why spend £50 on a pair of boots that will last you one winter when a pair at £100 might last you 5 winters...? The ethical debate that arose with the rise of 'Disposable Fashion' has always interested me. I'm torn between the ethical implications of it (e.g. how the garments are made, who by, and in what conditions) and my true belief that fashion shouldn't just be for those who can afford it. I wish I could form some sort of definitive view or opinion on the debate but until then I'm going to sit on the fence and mull over it - although I am leaning towards Boycott, human right is ultimately more important than fashion rights. Always.
